We recently obtained planning and listed buildings approval to install an air source heat pump (ASHP) to the rear of a listed property in East Sussex. It had to be sympathetically enclosed with timber cladding that allowed the air flow required for a heat pump.
The ASHP will be used to heat the new extension rather than the existing building. The new extension will be well insulated with underfloor heating and an ASHP is well suited for this situation. It is unlikely that an ASHP will generate sufficient heat for an existing building that has single glazing and is poorly insulated.
Please do contact us if you would like some advice on whether an ASHP would be suitable for your property as architects in East Sussex we have extensive experience working with all local District Councils in Sussex.
