Barn conversion and extension

The client was lucky to find a barn that had not been listed and was deemed to have enough structure intact to be able to be converted and extended into a 5 bedroom house. The extraordinary thing about this project is that we got planning permission to move the barn 10 metres further away from the road.
The design for the extensions to the original barn takes the traditional “U” shape creating a courtyard in front of the barn. These extensions contain the bedrooms and bathrooms with the living and dining space opening up to the barn structure in the middle. The barn has large windows and doors to allow the clients to enjoy the amazing views and have privacy from the road.

The clients for this project had a growing family and we were able to achieve a large extension so they could benefit from an increase to the living spaces and also in the number of bedrooms.
The reception spaces are light and airy with the large pivoting doors allowing the living room and master bedroom to access the garden and create a connection to the terraces.
The existing building had a thatched roof which was extended to provide a unique combination of modern and traditional appearance externally and internally.

House extension and refurbishment

The building is a 1930’s bungalow that required updating and extending. The interior was gutted and all the walls removed. The building has been clad in insulation and timber cladding to improve energy efficiency. The building is situated in the centre of a village and retains a traditional exterior whilst the interior is fully modernised.
The main space has an open plan kitchen, dining, work area so the clients are able to socialise whilst doing different activities. The building has benefitted from larger window openings towards the spectacular views and has a veranda that allows the clients to enjoy the garden in all weathers.

Nature Home Design

This single storey four bedroom house is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Planning permission was granted based on the replacement of some unsightly and redundant agricultural buildings.

The house is designed to be respectful of the location and ecologically sustainable. It is centred around a private courtyard to protect the building from the wind whilst still enjoying spectacular views over surrounding countryside.

The main space is open plan, incorporating the kitchen, dining and living areas. Most of the rooms are open to the ceiling giving a light and spacious feel. The clients wanted plenty of natural light and the ability to connect the interior space with the terrace via sliding doors. 

Beautiful Home Extension

New House in Mayfield

This house has been designed specifically for the client who works from home. It is designed to be sustainable and is constructed from SIPS – structural insulated panel system. This enabled the contractor to fully erect the building and make it water tight within a fortnight. The benefits include lower construction and running costs and a property that was faster to construct.
The main space is open plan and double height incorporating the kitchen, dining, living and work space. Each of the children’s bedrooms has a sleeping platform to maximise floor area and take advantage of the ceiling height. Being single level enables all the main spaces to open onto the garden.
